A week ago, the market value of AMD exceeded $1 trillion for the first time, and much of the attention from the outside world focused on its significance in the AI competition. However, this milestone also made AMD the first company led by a female CEO to have a valuation of over $1 trillion. The company mentioned this achievement during an event last week, calling it "a quite remarkable moment."

A week ago, the market value of AMD exceeded $1 trillion for the first time. Related reports mainly focused on the significance of this milestone for the AI competition: the surge in demand for chips, as well as the impact of Meta launching the AI proxy for Muse. AMD reached this level after five consecutive days of gains, during which the stock price rose by a cumulative 25%.

But there is another notable achievement in reaching a trillion-dollar market value: AMD has become the first company led by a woman CEO to be valued at over $1 trillion. It joins a very select group of companies that includes Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, SpaceX, and NVIDIA. Among these companies on the list, only AMD is led by a female CEO Lisa Su.

Oracle had previously approached this level; during the tenure of Safra Catz, its market value once reached approximately $925 billion last autumn. (Today, this figure has fallen by nearly 60% from its peak.)

Su last week discussed this achievement at the Imperia summit hosted by Melania Trump. When Fox Business Channel host Liz Claman mentioned that AMD is the first female-led company to exceed a market value of $1 trillion, Su said, “That was indeed a pretty remarkable moment.”

Earlier this year, Su ranked third on Fortune’s list of the most influential women of 2026. She took over from AMD 12 years ago and has now become a well-known figure in Washington. At gatherings of White House technology leaders, she is often one of the few women present.

Today, with the decline of AI stock this morning, the market value of AMD has fallen below $1 trillion, currently around $984.4 billion.

However, whether AMD continues to hover around this threshold or not, breaking through a market value of one trillion dollars remains an extraordinary achievement. Women have made great progress in the business world: they control 11% of the Fortune 500 companies and lead many of the most influential enterprises globally, also holding key executive positions in other trillion-dollar companies (ahem, SpaceX). But the top echelons are still largely out of reach for them.

By reaching a market value of $1 trillion, Su has officially created a measurable gap in one of the most difficult-to-break “glass ceilings” in business.

A survey by Cornell University. A student filed a civil lawsuit against Cornell, claiming that she was raped in a group in October 2024. Among the seven perpetrators, only two were expelled, and they all belonged to the same fraternity. The punishments for the others were merely writing articles or short-term suspension from school, and no one was arrested. Now, the New York prosecution has reactivated the investigation into this case, and public backlash against Cornell is intensifying.

Meanwhile... The Trump administration has today finally finalized the abolition of the Biden administration's guidelines regarding the reporting and handling of sexual misconduct on campus. The new rules define gender discrimination as being related only to biological gender, and no longer adopt a broader definition that includes sexual orientation and gender identity, which effectively revokes protections for LGBTQ students.
