Kim Tae-yu, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics ( SSNLF ), stated that HBM is competing with ordinary DRAM for wafer production capacity. This means that expanding the production scale of HBM may squeeze the supply of standard DRAM.
According to IT, HBM is a key component within AI's computing power, consisting of multiple layers of storage chips stacked vertically, which allows processors to read massive amounts of data at extremely high speeds. Currently, this market is mainly dominated by three companies: SK Hynix from South Korea, Samsung Electronics, and Micron Technology from the United States.
