Noh Mi-jeong mentioned that since wafer foundry became an independent business in 2017, the number of its customers has increased by about three times, and it is expected to reach five times that of 12 years ago by 2029.
HPC's contribution to Samsung's wafer foundry business has grown from 5% in 2017 to 28% today, and it is expected to reach 66% by 2029. By then, over half of Samsung's wafer foundry customers and revenue will come from the HPC sector.
Samsung Electronics plans to mass-produce the third-generation 2nm process by 2028 ( SF2P +), and achieve mass production at the 1.4nm node by 2029 ( SF1.4 ). The company intends to start operations of its first wafer factory in Texas, USA by the end of 2026; the construction of the second wafer factory will also begin in 2026, with mass production scheduled for 2030.
