IT Home News on October 1st: Technology media Android Headline published a blog post yesterday (September 30th) reporting that Android Auto has recently encountered Bug, which causes small foldable phones to be unable to make calls when in the closed state. Google and Motorola have already intervened in the investigation, but no fix has been released yet.
Android Auto is a car infotainment system launched by Google that allows the projection of an Android phone interface onto the car's display screen, supporting functions such as navigation, music, and calls, through voice or touch control.
In terms of affected models, the Motorola Razr series, as well as Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip7 series and others, are all impacted. In addition, several flip-folding screen phones are also affected. IT has attached the relevant screenshots below:

In terms of fault symptoms, when users attempt to make a call while the phone is in folded state, Gemini indicates that the call has been established, but there is actually no response at all. Once the phone is unfolded, the calling function returns to normal. Answering incoming calls is not affected, and the use of the external screen operations is normal.
Some users have pointed out that the issue occurred after Gemini replaced Google Assistant. As of now, there is no official confirmation of a causal relationship between the two. Both Google and Motorola have initiated investigation procedures. Neither party has announced the root cause or a timeline for repairs. The technical team expects to release a patch as soon as the cause is identified.
