In September, the spot trading volume of 14 major exchanges increased by 36.5% month-on-month, reaching 696.7 billion US dollars.
Among them, Binance ranks first with a trading volume of $307.8 billion and a market share of 44.2%.
In the meantime, the trading volume of Uniswap increased by 88.9%, while the combined market share of the top three exchanges decreased from 64.8% to 62.4%.
In September, the spot trading volume of cryptocurrency exchanges saw a significant rebound, with 14 major exchanges collectively reaching $696.7 billion, an increase of 36.5% from $510.4 billion in August. According to WuBlockchain data, all exchanges on the list experienced growth. This indicates that the rebound has a relatively broad base, although the top platforms still occupy a considerable portion of the market share.
The spot trading volume on encrypted exchanges has generally increased.
The growth in September was not limited to just one or two exchanges. The spot trading volumes of 14 exchanges all increased, indicating that both centralized and decentralized trading activities have seen a boost.
Among the exchanges listed in the rankings, Uniswap saw the largest increase, with trading volume growing by 88.9% to 37.6 billion US dollars. Upbit followed closely behind, with a growth of 81.6% to 19 billion US dollars. Bitfinex also recorded a significant increase, rising by 112.5% to 13.8 billion US dollars.
These increases are quite significant, but a percentage growth does not automatically imply a leading position in the market. The initial trading volume is equally important.
Binance remains ahead, while competitors' market share is on the rise.
Binance remains the market leader, with September's spot trading volume reaching 307.8 billion US dollars, accounting for 44.2% of the market share. This scale is significantly ahead of OKX's 65.8 billion US dollars and Coinbase's 61.3 billion US dollars.
The three major exchanges account for a total of 62.4% of the total trading volume. However, this combined share is lower than the 64.8% in August. The leading platforms still hold a dominant position, but as other platforms grow more rapidly, their control has weakened.
The trading volume of Coinbase increased by 49.8% month-on-month, while that of OKX increased by 40.3%. Both figures are higher than the overall market growth rate of 36.5%.
Does September indicate a broader recovery in trading?
These data indicate that spot trading activity has shown a clear rebound, but they do not explain what the driving factors are, nor can they determine whether this trend will continue. A single-month increase is not sufficient to prove that a trend has been established.
However, the data for September sends a clear signal: the spot trading volume on crypto exchanges has increased significantly, with Binance continuing to hold the first place, while its competitors have expanded their market share. Whether this higher level of trading activity will continue into October remains to be seen.
