TSMC's profits in the third quarter exceeded expectations, and despite growing concerns regarding the long-term prospects of infrastructure construction in artificial intelligence ( AI ), the company maintained rapid growth.
This global key chip manufacturing company stated that its net profit increased by 69% to NT$763.1 billion (US$23.6 billion), exceeding the average expectations of analysts. Previously, the company announced that its sales for that quarter increased by 51% to US$47 billion, also surpassing expectations.
As the exclusive manufacturer of NVIDIA and Apple's most advanced semiconductors, TSMC's strong performance stands in sharp contrast to the increasingly pessimistic sentiment in the market regarding AI stocks. Downstream from TSMC, concerns about investment returns and long-term financing are impacting companies such as CoreWeave, a cloud computing service provider and also a customer of NVIDIA. The stock and bond prices of CoreWeave both plummeted on Wednesday.
TSMC has seen accelerated revenue growth in the past two quarters and has increased its capacity expansion efforts. The company stated that this year's capital expenditure is expected to reach up to $64 billion, setting a new historical high.
