Main Street Announces Preliminary Operating Performance Estimates for the Third Quarter of 2026

Announces the release time of the financial report for the third quarter of 2026 and the arrangements for the teleconference

Houston, October 15, 2026 / PRNewswire / — Main Street Capital Corporation (NYSE ticker: MAIN, hereinafter referred to as “Main Street” or “the Company”) announced its preliminary operating results for the third quarter of 2026, as well as the schedule for the release of its financial reports for the third quarter of 2026 and a teleconference.

In commenting on the preliminary operating results for the third quarter of 2026, Main Street CEO Dwayne L Hyzak stated: "We are satisfied with the performance in the third quarter. We once again achieved strong operating results this quarter, with the pre-tax distributable net investment income in line with our expectations and the guidance we provided during the last teleconference. Net assets per share also grew for the seventeenth consecutive quarter. We look forward to sharing the full details of the third quarter results for 2026 in a few weeks."

Preliminary Estimates for Third Quarter 2026 Performance

Main Street Preliminary estimates indicate that for the third quarter of 2026, the net income per share (NII) will be between $0.87 and $0.91, the distributable net income per share (DNII) will be between $0.94 and $0.98, and the pre-tax distributable net income per share will be between $0.96 and $1.00.

Main Street Preliminary estimates indicate that as of September 30, 2026, the net asset value per share (NAV) will be between $34.18 and $34.26, an increase of $0.26 to $0.34 from $33.92 on June 30, 2026, representing a growth rate of 0.8% to 1.0%. This increase takes into account the impact of a supplementary dividend of $0.30 per share paid by the company in September 2026.

The company stated that the expected increase in net assets per share mainly comes from the appreciation of the net fair value of the investment portfolio, including both realized and unrealized gains, as well as the dilution effect brought about by equity issuance; this is partially offset by the total dividends paid per share in the third quarter, which were higher than the net investment income per share, and by the provision for net taxes. The appreciation of the net fair value of the investment portfolio is primarily due to the appreciation of the net fair value of the portfolios in lower-end and mid-size markets ( LMM ), private lending portfolios, and other investment portfolios; however, this is partly offset by the depreciation of the net fair value of the mid-size market portfolios and the depreciation of the fair value of wholly-owned external investment managers.

Based on the preliminary estimates of net investment income, net fair value appreciation, and net tax provisions mentioned above, Main Street expects its annualized return on equity for the third quarter to exceed 14%.

Main Street Preliminary estimates indicate that as of September 30, 2026, investments that are not accrued account for 0.9% of the total portfolio based on fair value and 3.5% based on cost.

In addition, during this quarter, the company's wholly-owned investment funds Main Street Mezzanine Fund and LP, which are licensed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to operate as investment companies for small businesses (SBIC), have been approved by SBA to increase their bond borrowing capacity by $75 million to $250 million. Together with another wholly-owned investment fund Main Street Capital III also licensed by SBIC, Main Street, the company can now utilize a maximum of $425 million from the regulatory-approved borrowing limit of $475 million for these associated funds. Main Street expects to continue maintaining a certain level of bond balance under the SBIC projects in the future, but this will depend on regular repayments and borrowing conditions, with the potential scale reaching the upper limit permitted by regulations.

Portfolio Activities

The company's operating activities in the third quarter of 2026 included the following LMM and private lending investment strategy-related investment activities:

  • LMM portfolio has a total investment of 61.5 million US dollars; after deducting the total repayments, the return of invested equity capital, and the decrease in the cost base due to realized losses, the total cost base of the LMM portfolio has decreased by 19.4 million US dollars;
  • The total investment in the private loan portfolio amounted to 162 million US dollars; after deducting the total repayments, the return of invested equity capital, and the decrease in the cost base due to realized losses, the total cost base of the private loan portfolio decreased by 1.8 million US dollars.

2026 Third Quarter Financial Report Release and Conference Call Schedule

Main Street will release its third-quarter results for 2026 after the financial markets close on Thursday, November 5, 2026. In conjunction with the release of the financial report, the company has scheduled a conference call for 10 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, November 6, 2026, which will be broadcast live via telephone and the internet.
