In the latest episode of the Power On podcast, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman once again stated that Apple has “basically stopped” developing M6 chips and is currently focusing its resources on advancing the M7 series of chips.

Gurman stated that the development of the M6 chip "is basically complete," and Apple will not subsequently launch high-end versions such as M6 Pro, M6 Max, or M6 Ultra. The M6 chip will mainly be used in Mac, mini, iMac, as well as the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro; the upcoming OLED MacBook Pro will initially be equipped with the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

Gurman stated that currently, Apple has shifted its focus on research and development to the M7 series of chips. Among them, the standard M7 chip will be equipped in regular MacBook Pro product lines and is expected to be released in 2027.

M7 Pro and M7 Max will enter the high-end touch screen market by the end of 2027, while the even more advanced M7 Ultra model, designed for ultimate performance, is planned to be launched in the first half of 2028. Due to the delay in the next generation of Ultra chips, the possibility of a new Mac Studio model appearing in 2027 is also slim.

The report also indicates that the M7 chip will be optimized for artificial intelligence workloads. By skipping the M6 high-end product line, Apple may intend to prioritize research and development as well as production capacity towards the more powerful M7 platform, in order to cope with the increasingly fierce competition on the end-user side.

According to the UK's Financial Times, the data center bond market is experiencing a widespread sell-off. Prices have fallen across the board, ranging from bonds financing large-scale projects leased to Meta, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, to debts issued by emerging cloud computing companies such as CoreWeave. Gartner predicts that if AI's infrastructure investments continue on their current trajectory, over $4 trillion in assets could be at risk of impairment by 2032; the chief investment officer of Allianz Group has warned that the data center bond market is facing a moment of "survival of the fittest."
