PRUF.NET is offering 10,000 iPhone test spots, featuring the concept of "proving you are human without identifying your identity".
Los Angeles, October 26th / PRNewswire / -- Every app wants to know who you are, but few can determine whether the person on the other end is real. Los Angeles-based privacy technology company PRUF Systems Inc has opened 10,000 iPhone test spots today for PRUF.NET. PRUF.NET is a social network that can confirm you are human, but it never identifies your identity. This is also the first app on the PRUF verified human network.
Founder Khoi Diep started with a list of “things he wanted to get rid of”: ads that tracked him across applications, content from internet celebrities he had never followed, attention-grabbing tricks generated by computers, and the growing ad profiles behind each click.
Diep said, "I feel that registering for a free app is like allowing it to sell my internet soul to every marketer on Earth. I want a place where I can connect with real people, keep my conversations private, and share photos and videos that people have actually taken."
There is no product on the market that meets this need, so he made one himself.
Joining PRUF.NET does not require a name, email address, phone number, password, or government-issued identification documents. The system creates accounts through real-time human verification via Face ID, and the accounts are bound to the internal hardware of the iPhone entity. PRUF does not collect facial data nor store any biometric records. The application can only be unlocked through Face ID and will not revert to a password. Therefore, even if PIN is compromised, it is only possible to unlock the phone, not the internet.
Hardware binding makes it more difficult for robots and automated proxies without real identities to join. Creating 100 email accounts for login takes just one afternoon, while creating 100 PRUF accounts requires 100 iPhone devices, and each time the app is opened, facial recognition verification is required on each phone. Users can report and block others just like on other social apps; since the username is bound to the phone and its usage history, banned accounts cannot return using new emails.
Each photo in the dynamic content must be taken with a PRUF camera and cannot be uploaded from an album. When the photos are removed from the internet, they come with a stamp and the original shooting link, so anyone can verify their origin without being connected to the internet.
Diep says, "People are tired of no longer being able to tell what is real. Here, when you share a photo, you can prove that it was taken by you."
Private messages use end-to-end encryption. PRUF Vault will save messages and files in encrypted storage, therefore PRUF is unable to read any content from them.
PRUF refers to its architecture as Zero PII, which means "zero personal identity information," and PRUF.NET is its first public verification. The company is extending this same verification layer to website access, as well as to human-controlled authorization for AI proxies, and plans to provide this authorization to platforms that need to confirm that the person on the other end is real without knowing who they are.
The core network will remain free after the trial period ends. Additional storage and extra user accounts can be obtained through optional subscriptions. There are no ads.
Diep said, "I do it because I want to use it myself. I miss the internet of the past, when not everyone knew your name. I think there must be at least 10,000 other people who also miss that era – those who want to find a quiet corner away from the noise and sit down with friends to share things."
