Key Points
- On its first day of trading, the stock price soared by 21% on Jio Platforms.
- The largest IPO in Indian history has attracted a huge amount of demand, raising $3.2 billion in funds.
- Analysts believe that the telecommunications and digital services of Jio have strong growth potential.

Jio IPO Attracts record-breaking investor demand
The company serves over 530 million customers, making it one of the largest mobile operators in the world. Its major investors also include technology giants Meta and Google under Alphabet.
After going public, the market value of Jio surpassed that of Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank, ranking second only to its parent company Reliance Industries in the list of Indian companies by market value.
Analysts are optimistic about growth potential, but valuations raise concerns
For the fiscal year ending March 2026, Jio experienced a 14.6% increase in revenue to 1.47 trillion Indian rupees; profits grew by 15.1% to approximately 300.49 billion Indian rupees.
However, the significant increase in stock price after the opening also raised doubts about its valuation in the market. Motilal Oswal has set a target price of 1350 Indian rupees, which is lower than the opening-day price of 1358 Indian rupees set by Jio. This indicates that some of the expected price increases may have already been reflected in the initial valuation.
Competition, infrastructure spending, and potential changes in India's telecommunications regulatory rules are also important risks that need to be monitored.
Jio Platforms Can the stock price continue its upward trend?
Jio's impressive listing this time marks an important milestone in the Indian stock market and also reflects Ambani's efforts to transform Reliance into a diversified technology and consumer giant. However, investors will be watching to see whether the company can turn its vast user base and digital expansion plans into sustained profit growth.
With a valuation of over $130 billion, whether Jio can justify its high premium may determine whether the stock will continue to rise after a strong performance on its first day of trading or face selling pressure in the following trading days.
