Google is gradually phasing out its artificial intelligence programming assistant Jules. The company launched Jules in December 2024, positioning it as a tool capable of performing the kind of programming work that "you don't want to do" yourself. However, now Jules is about to cease services.

Google stated that the company will apply the experience gained from this tool to its artificial intelligence coding platform Antigravity.

The following is a statement released by the official X account of Jules:

When we launched Jules, it was an experiment aimed at understanding how asynchronous programming agents could help developers deliver software more quickly. Seeing what everyone built with it gave us a deep insight into the future direction of agent development, and it directly influenced several products under Google. We are working hard to integrate the experience gained from Jules into Antigravity, so that users can benefit from the best of both worlds: the ability to execute background tasks autonomously in remote environments, as well as a development environment centered around agents. As we shift our focus to creating a unified experience, Jules will gradually cease operations. Whether you use Jules to fix bugs, write tests, or release new features—thank you for shaping the future of agent programming.

Antigravity is an "Agent First" development platform launched by Google on November 18, 2025. It represents the next generation of integrated development environments for developers and is available as a standalone, downloadable IDE separate from the VS Code branch. The platform supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. Based on the design philosophy of "Agent First," its purpose is to enable AI to autonomously plan, execute, verify, and iterate on complex software engineering tasks.
