Tinicum, New Jersey, USA, October 30th / PRNewswire / —— Cognizant (Nasdaq ticker: CTSH) today announced the establishment of OpenAI Frontier Capability Group, which brings together over 25,000 professionals into a global OpenAI delivery organization responsible for providing customers with OpenAI products including Codex and ChatGPT. This team is aimed at helping companies apply OpenAI models to software development, customer service, and daily operations.

Today, what limits many companies is no longer the ability to access cutting-edge models, but rather the lack of professionals who know how to use these models within the systems that drive their operations. Cognizant states that the company has been building such capabilities internally, and over 21,000 employees have obtained more than 40,000 OpenAI badges, which are awarded to those who have completed OpenAI technical learning pathways. A newly established team will add an organization dedicated to building and supporting the OpenAI systems that drive customer operations.

The company stated that this work is expected to leverage its Frontier, workforce, and model. This model is currently cultivating Frontier Certified Engineers and Frontier Business Operators that are directly certified by leading model companies.

Cognizant typically tests new methods within their own business before promoting them to customers. The company stated that their sales and customer success teams are already using a solution built on the OpenAI model to identify and advance new business opportunities. For customers, this means that the work of these teams can start with methods that have been validated on a global scale within a single enterprise.

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S stated: "Over the past 50 years, every technological transformation in business has changed who builds systems and the way they are built. With the help of Codex and ChatGPT, OpenAI is changing both of these aspects at the same time. We are committed to investing over 25,000 employees to bring this change into our customers' businesses. We start with our own business, and OpenAI is already beginning to reshape our sales approach."

OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Dali Rajic stated: " OpenAI is helping companies to fundamentally rethink the way they operate, from how they serve their customers to how they get work done. Cognizant has brought together over 25,000 professionals into a dedicated OpenAI practice team, and by applying our technology to their own operations, this is helping more companies to transform AI into meaningful business impact."

Initial Key Areas

In the initial phase, the team will focus on three areas: AI native software engineering using Codex, application modernization, and intelligent customer operations. Codex is the top priority, aimed at supporting engineers in writing, testing, and releasing new code. In terms of application modernization, the team will utilize Cognizant Application Modernizer driven by OpenAI models, covering the entire lifecycle, from reverse engineering of legacy mainframe code to generating cloud-native code. Engineers will review every key decision, and Cognizant's experience in modernizing mainframe systems for over 500 customers will provide support in this regard. In customer operations, the team will apply OpenAI models to sales, service, and support, drawing on the company's own experience in using these models within its business.

Cognizant has already delivered results for clients: at a global biopharmaceutical company, Cognizant jointly designed an enterprise assistant driven by OpenAI, which integrates search, content creation, translation, and approval into one platform. This assistant has processed over 5 million conversations and reduced content creation time by 60%.

Cognizant is one of the few Advanced partners among OpenAI Partner Network. The Codex hackathons it organized in India and the Americas attracted over 12,000 participants.
