China has denied a report by The New York Times. The report claimed that a businesswoman closely associated with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is working for China's intelligence services.
According to a report by China's state-owned media Global Times on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated that these claims are unfounded and constitute an act of slander.
The New York Times reports that American authorities have determined that Alice Huang (also known as Huang Le) is a Chinese citizen and also a senior executive at the Singapore-based data center company Megaspeed. She has transmitted information to Beijing.
It is reported that about a year ago, U.S. President Donald Trump was briefed on the matter, but he did not take any action, partly due to concerns that it could affect NVIDIA's sales and trade relations in China.
It is reported that US authorities have been investigating Megaspeed since the end of 2024, suspecting it of engaging in chip transfer activities. Its affiliated company in Malaysia purchased at least $4.8 billion worth of NVIDIA-based AI devices between June 2024 and February 2026.
It is reported that the case has now been handed over to the US Department of Justice for handling.
NVIDIA stated that the meeting with Jensen Huang was of a routine nature.
