Apple shares fell by more than 4%; Ternus's first-quarter profit margin forecast underperformed expectations during their tenure
Apple's stock price fell by about 4.4% before opening on Tuesday to around $323.61, due to its profit margin outlook not meeting market expectations.
Apple's revenue in the fourth fiscal quarter exceeded expectations, but iPad sales were lower than anticipated. This is Apple's first financial report since John Ternus took over as CEO from Tim Cook in September.
Ternus indicates that, despite supply constraints and exchange rate pressures, this remains the company's best fiscal year on record.
The continuously rising prices of memory are still a major concern. Violeta Todorova indicates that the increase in memory costs and the investment in Siri AI are dragging down profit margins, while a chip shortage may limit the supply of Mac and iPad.
Apple's stock price has still risen by 25% this year.
Palantir's stock price fell by 6%, despite the company's third-quarter performance exceeding expectations; its U.S. business revenue also surpassed government sales revenue for the first time.
