On November 4th, according to IT, Netflix announced on Tuesday local time the launch of a new tab called “AI Discover” that allows users to explore their next desired films and TV shows in a new way. The first experimental feature of this tab will provide content recommendations based on the user's current mood and viewing preferences.

According to IT, users can choose from a series of carefully curated themes that display clips from relevant movies and TV shows. These themes are categorized based on the user's mood, viewing preferences, available time, as well as the latest and most popular content. The themes include "Something Light-hearted," "Scare Me," "Family Movie Night," "Quick Viewing," and more.

The addition of this tab indicates that Netflix aims to enable users to more easily browse the continuously expanding library of film and television content. At the same time, it seeks to change the traditional method of users constantly scrolling through titles to find content to watch, shifting towards a more personalized content discovery experience driven by AI.
Netflix indicates that AI Discover is supported by a brand-new intelligent system being developed by that company. This system is capable of responding in real-time to the needs expressed by users on the platform and continues to learn throughout its use.
After the user selects a certain topic, the system will display corresponding content recommendations. Users can also continue to choose more specific topics to narrow down their search until they find works that interest them; they can also opt for "try something else" ( something different ) to start exploring anew.
Netflix wrote in a blog post: "Today, there is more content on Netflix that is worth watching and exploring than ever before, but the works suitable for quiet nights to watch alone may be quite different from those suitable for family movie nights or for watching in a few spare minutes. Over the years, we have been continuously improving the content discovery experience, providing personalized recommendations based on users' preferences, including the works they have liked and the content they have added to their 'My Playlist.' Now, AI Discover has also joined in, offering users a brand-new way to explore."
Netflix refers to AI Discover as its "test kitchen," planning to "try new ways of discovering content" here. The company stated that user feedback will help them decide which features to retain or improve, before introducing the matured features into the main interface of Netflix.
AI Discover has currently begun to be gradually rolled out in the United States, with the first batch being available to TV users who use the English version of Netflix and whose devices are compatible. Netflix plans to promote this new tab to more users in the coming weeks.
If users have already obtained this feature, they will see a button labeled “Discover” with a red gem icon and the text “New Feature” in the top navigation bar of the TV interface.
