On Wednesday morning, Novo Nordisk's stock price rose by more than 6% after its Wegovy oral medication sales exceeded market expectations, and the company also raised its full-year performance forecast.
This Danish pharmaceutical company currently expects that, based on a fixed exchange rate, adjusted revenue and operating profit will range between a 2% decrease and a 2% increase from the same period last year, which is an upward revision from the previous forecast of a 6% decrease to no change.
Third-quarter sales increased by 4% to 79.2 billion Danish kroner, approximately 11.9 billion US dollars, exceeding the estimated 73.6 billion Danish kroner.
This year, the Wegovy oral medication achieved revenue of 5.4 billion Danish kroner, which is higher than the market's expectation of around 4.5 billion Danish kroner.
The sales of the injectable versions Wegovy and Ozempic also exceeded expectations.
Chief Financial Officer Karsten Munk Knudsen will step down at the end of 2026, and he will be replaced by Luigi La Corte from Galderma.
Novo Nordisk has fallen behind Eli Lilly this year, and its shares listed in Copenhagen have still seen a cumulative decline of about 17% as of 2026.
