UPay will be connected to WIDTH's DART, with the addition of on-chain risk screening.
UPay will add an on-chain risk screening feature through cooperation with compliance and risk technology provider WIDTH. According to the agreement announced on November 6th, this digital asset payment platform will use WIDTH's DART to screen wallet addresses and transactions, and provide auditors with more detailed information explaining what triggered the risk flags.
Digital asset payments are bringing on-chain funds into everyday consumption scenarios, which may make risk review more complex. Reviewers may need to verify customer identities, identify the wallet addresses involved, and understand how the funds flow.
The wallet address risk screening (DART) of KYA can identify the association between a certain address and high-risk entities. Its transaction risk screening (KYT) will check where the funds come from and where they go. This enables auditors to trace each result back to the underlying screening criteria and transaction records.
WIDTH, co-founder and CEO, Chionh Chye Kit, stated: "Our focus is on making the risk detection results truly useful to those responsible for reviewing. The scoring, matching rules, and transaction paths help to explain why a particular address or transaction needs attention."
DART will complement UPay's own due diligence and review processes.
UPay will use these screening results to support manual review and follow-up actions in accordance with its own risk policies.
UPay CEO Owen Yang stated: "Our goal is not only to provide auditors with a risk flag, but also to let them understand what triggered that flag and to see the transaction history behind it, so that they can determine which aspects require further investigation."
The screening requirements may vary depending on the product type, the method of capital flow, and the region where the services are provided. UPay and WIDTH will jointly determine which payment processes DART will cover, as well as how these findings will be incorporated into the review process. The scope of coverage will depend on the supported assets, blockchain networks, and business arrangements. Both companies will also evaluate the usage of DART based on feedback.
After the cooperation between the two parties, the findings of DART will complement UPay's own customer due diligence and independent reviews. However, UPay will still be responsible for its own business decisions and for fulfilling applicable regulatory obligations.
UPay was established in 2023 and is a fintech company that provides digital wallets, payment cards, over-the-counter trading (OTC) services, encrypted payments, cross-border settlements, remittances, and corporate API.
