Ripple participated in a white paper commissioned by the Dubai Financial Services Authority ( DFSA ), which brings together the views and insights of multiple practitioners in the financial services ecosystem.
The General Manager of the Middle East and Africa region, Ripple, recently stated that he participated in the new publication DFSA titled "Scaling Tokenization: The Road Ahead", and co-signed it with the heads of BlackRock, Standard Chartered, and Robinhood.
This white paper discusses the conditions that may contribute to the responsible expansion of tokenized financial assets and related market infrastructure, including the relevant developments within the Dubai International Financial Centre ( DIFC ).
In addition to Merrick, the other participants include: BlackRock who is the Head of Technology and Operations for the Middle East and Africa region as well as the Head of Digital Assets; Tony Ashraf; Robinhood who is the Senior Director of Cryptocurrency Business and Deputy Chief Legal Counsel; Coy Garrison; Standard Chartered who is the Global Digital Assets Consulting Manager; Ren; Michau; Soter Insure who is the Founder and CEO; and DFSA who is the Director of Innovation and Technical Risk Management.
Will XRP Ledger benefit?
According to the DFSA report, the tokenization of traditional financial assets has the potential to become an important development in mainstream financial markets. It will provide investors with broader participation opportunities, improve efficiency for issuers and intermediaries, and reduce risks in certain areas, especially in the settlement processes of the broader financial system.
Merrick shared his views, stating that the real change is not just the growth in asset management scale (MMFs) of tokenized government bonds and money market funds (AUM), but their use on-chain as collateral in repurchase and margin trading, without the need to redeem them into cash first. He pointed out that the repurchase market still handles trillions of dollars every day, which presents potential for tokenization.
Merrick It is expected that there will be significant growth in this field within the next 12 months, and it is predicted that a considerable portion of this growth will occur on XRP Ledger.
He said, "With a clear framework, institutional-level hosting, and the support of credible settlement assets like RLUSD, the United Arab Emirates, DIFC, and Ripple are at the forefront of this next phase."
There are significant differences in market forecasts regarding the scale of future tokenized assets. The baseline scenario from Citi Institute predicts that by 2030, the global market for tokenized financial assets will reach 5.5 trillion US dollars. A report from Standard Chartered and Synpulse estimates that the demand for tokenized assets could reach 30.1 trillion US dollars by 2034.
