Binance France announces that it will close user accounts on December 31
The company stated that any assets remaining within the exchange will be subject to a monthly fee starting from November 29th.
According to media reports, Binance France is ending its operations in that country. The reports state that customers received notifications via email in early November.
Media sources such as Cryptoast and Crypto Briefing cited an email sent to users by Binance on Saturday, stating that all accounts will be closed on December 31st, and any assets remaining in the exchange will incur monthly fees starting from November 29th.
According to reports, starting from that day, users who still have a balance in their accounts will be charged a monthly maintenance fee of 0.025% of their balance, with a minimum charge of 10 USDC. USDC is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar.
The exchange stated that in order to avoid fees, users must complete withdrawals before November 29th.
A Binance email cited by Cryptoast states: "Due to the orderly cessation of operations, your Binance France account will be closed on December 31, 2026. If you have not withdrawn your crypto assets by December 31, 2026, this message constitutes a notice that we intend to consider your account as inactive in accordance with our terms of use. This may result in the conversion, transfer, or other processing of your crypto assets."
Key services were restricted in June.
Cointelegraph reported in late June that after Binance failed to obtain regulatory authorization under the Crypto Asset Market Regulation Act (MiCA) from a certain member country by the deadline of July 1st, the exchange notified its EU users that access to key services would be restricted.
On Sunday, a Binance spokesperson replied to a query from Cointelegraph by stating: "As the transition period for MiCA comes to an end, Binance is gradually restricting certain services for affected users in accordance with the timeline that was previously communicated to those users."
Although specifically asked whether similar emails were also sent to users in Spain and Belgium, this spokesperson did not mention this matter.
According to media reports, Binance Global has at least 300 million customers, and its app was downloaded over 4 million times in the European Union last year.
