Vitalik: Future Considerations on Ethereum Transaction Format
2026-09-06 07:22:48
According to CoinMeta, Vitalik Buterin indicates that recent in-depth considerations regarding the transaction format have yielded positive results. These include not only EIP-8141 but also discussions about the future of state management, such as UTXOs, PBT, key-controlled random numbers, and recursive STARK memory pools. He pointed out that there is a clearer understanding of the “actions” and “dependencies” in transactions, which can be optimized separately. Actions refer to the effects produced by a transaction, while dependencies are facts related to the transaction and/or state that must be valid for that transaction. Dependencies can be processed in parallel, and those involving the state can be inferred through memory pools. Buterin emphasizes that Ethereum’s current expansion strategy needs to go beyond past paradigms, requiring contracts, accounts, and transactions to more clearly specify the content of dynamic and static analyses in order to reduce gas costs and achieve better scalability.
