Solana and Arbitrum openly clash over the blockchain transaction fee issue of Robinhood
2026-09-06 10:35:03
According to CoinMeta, the co-founders of Solana and Arbitrum engaged in a public debate regarding the transaction fees of Robinhood. Co-founder Steven Goldfeder of Arbitrum responded that under the Arbitrum architecture, it is possible to retain 90% of the gas fees, whereas choosing Solana would result in no income at all, and one would still have to bear the transaction fees themselves. He stated that Robinhood chose Arbitrum because they wanted to be the “landlord” rather than the “tenant.” Co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko of Solana countered by saying that Robinhood could charge fees at the application front end while using a lower-cost underlying network. Yakovenko also mentioned that the 10% revenue share paid by Robinhood to Arbitrum is sufficient to cover four times the Solana transaction fees, and if this revenue were used to subsidize user transactions, Robinhood could achieve a fee-free gas experience. Based on OKX market data, driven by transactions on Robinhood, ARB has risen by over 46% today.
