According to CoinMeta, as reported by Asia Economic News, the South Korean police are conducting a criminal investigation into users of Polymarket. As of September 15th, the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency has filed cases against 26 individuals, among whom 18 have been referred to the prosecution. The total betting amount involved by these users amounts to approximately 17.6 billion Korean won (about 12.7 million US dollars), with the highest single-person betting amount reaching around 5.7 billion Korean won. The police tracked and identified the relevant users by making public blockchain transaction records and using OSINT methods, and consider that Polymarket transactions to constitute illegal gambling. Previously, on August 18th, the South Korean Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) had decided to block Polymarket.
