CLARITY Legislative provisions on encryption ethics not advanced, adult children's shareholding not covered
2026-09-21 01:53:09
According to CoinMeta, the clause in the CLARITY bill draft that requires officials and their spouses to sell or transfer shares in companies holding more than $15,000 in digital assets has not been advanced. This clause does not cover the shareholding situation of officials' adult children. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has transferred the Cantor Fitzgerald interests to a family trust with his adult children as beneficiaries. Documents SEC show that after October 2025, he no longer holds an actual interest, but the family is still exposed to Tether related businesses. Some Democrats have refused to support it because adult children are not covered by this clause.
