According to CoinMeta, the Gemini exchange under Winklevoss has switched to a new software for its Zcash system, which will generate new blocks every 25 seconds after the planned upgrade, compared to the previous interval of 75 seconds. The Zakura program currently in use by Gemini managed to catch up with the latest blocks in just over six hours during deployment, whereas the previously used Zebra program took nearly a day. The developers of Zakura also released a separate test showing that they completed the process in 4 hours and 20 minutes, while Zebra required nearly 21 hours. Gemini is controlled by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and their Zcash investment extends beyond the scope of the exchange itself.
