According to CoinMeta, the Bitget Protection Fund has been in place since 2022, providing additional protection for users' assets. The fund was initially established with a size of $300 million and is supported by 5,500 BTC. It also undergoes regular monitoring and information disclosure. Following a security incident on September 24th, Bitget decided to utilize the protection fund to cover the economic impacts of the incident, with an estimated affected amount of $388 million. However, users' account balances remained intact and unaffected. On September 28th, Bitget pledged to replenish the protection fund to at least $300 million within a week, and now it has indeed been increased to over $300 million, fulfilling this commitment. The determination to protect users remains unwavering. The protection fund operates using an on-chain mechanism, which is transparent and traceable. Users can visit the Bitget Protection Fund page to view the relevant wallet addresses and independently verify the funds on the chain.
