According to CoinMeta, during an investigation into electricity theft in Seri Iskandar, the Malaysian police detained two men and seized 30 Bitcoin mining machines. The police stated that these mining machines were operating through illegal power connections. The operation was carried out jointly by the police department of Perak Tengah district and the national public utility company Tenaga Nasional Bhd. During the investigation, the police found that electricity was illegally directed to the Bitcoin mining machines, resulting in electricity theft. The police also seized internet routers, desktop switches, and rolls of electrical wiring during the operation. Malaysian authorities have conducted several joint operations against Bitcoin miners to combat the act of bypassing electricity meters.
