European Aviation Safety Agency issues safety recommendations regarding Saudi airspace

According to CoinMeta, on September 30, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) stated that due to the recent expansion of attacks by Houthi forces from Yemen against targets in Saudi Arabia, the civil aviation safety risks in the relevant airspace have increased. EASA recommended that airlines avoid flying at any altitude within the Saudi airspace designated by them. In a information notice issued on that day, EASA mentioned that since September, the frequency and scope of Houthi attacks on Saudi maritime, energy, and infrastructure targets have significantly increased. The airspace in southern and southwestern Saudi Arabia, being close to areas controlled by Houthi forces, faces particularly high risks. The notice also noted that missile and drone attacks, as well as the activation of air defense systems, increase the risk of civil aircraft being misidentified, along with the risks of interception and debris falling.
