According to CoinMeta, Trump's criminal case against former Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, which involved $2.4 billion, has been dismissed. Trump attacked Powell for months, accusing the Federal Reserve of wasting funds on a headquarters renovation project and pushing for a criminal investigation into Powell's testimony. However, a report by the Federal Reserve's Ombudsman found that Powell did not commit any crimes or engage in any administrative misconduct. The report indicated that the project budget soared from $1.317 billion in 2020 to $2.381 billion in December 2024, and construction costs also doubled from $921 million to $2018 million. Despite political accusations of lavish spending, the investigation found that design elements such as marble, fountains, and garden terraces were already included in the original design and did not lead to increased costs later on.
