According to CoinMeta, as reported by the Syrian National News Agency ( SANA ), a natural gas pipeline in eastern Syria exploded due to "deliberate sabotage," resulting in a disruption of natural gas supply to power stations. The incident occurred between the Al-Shula ( al-shoula ) area and Deir ez-Zor ( deirezzor ); damage to the pipeline's valves caused a fire. Officials from the Syrian Petroleum Company stated that natural gas from the Al-Jabusa ( al-jabsah ) gas field could no longer be transported to the power stations. At the time of the incident, rising fuel prices in Syria sparked public discontent, and authorities attributed the price increases to the impact of regional conflicts. Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed Bashir noted that the civil war has severely damaged the energy infrastructure. Currently, Syria's daily natural gas production has dropped from about 30 million cubic meters before the war to 8.5 million cubic meters, while domestic demand is around 22 to 25 million cubic meters.
