According to CoinMeta, Google announced on September 30th the launch of Gemini and Argon, with a pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, respectively, offering a 95% discount for cached inputs. Just 24 hours prior to that, OpenAI also launched GPT-6.1 and SOL at the same prices. This move by Google marks its first direct competition in the cutting-edge field of AI with OpenAI, and it chose to set its prices at par rather than below or above theirs. Google positions Argon as the new leader in this field, with a current benchmark score of 77.9%, surpassing Claude Opus with 74.2% and GPT-6 and Astra both at 74.1%. Google's internal use has shown a 40% improvement in efficiency in quantum algorithm optimization, and it has freed up more than 300TB of memory. The distribution strategy for Argon is limited to over 650 trusted cybersecurity defenders through a Fairwind program, ensuring that it is used solely for defensive purposes.
