CoinMeta data: According to Cointelegraph, in September, the crypto industry suffered the most severe hacker attacks and vulnerability exploits of the year, with losses exceeding $768 million. Blockchain security company PeckShield counted 55 major incidents, involving stolen funds amounting to $767 million. Certik recorded 97 incidents, with estimated losses of $768 million, both showing a significant increase from August. Among them, Bitget suffered $388 million in losses from a hacker attack, while Liquid Network lost $320 million; over $270 million of the latter's funds have been returned. Safe Wallet, Dcent, and Duelbits incurred losses of $7.8 million, $6 million, and $5.9 million respectively. The Certik security dashboard shows that as of now in 2026, there have been 656 security incidents, resulting in cumulative losses of $2.68 billion.
