US Treasury Sanctions 7 Crypto Wallets Related to FBI Wanted Fugitive and Venezuelan Gang

According to CoinMeta, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned 10 targets on Wednesday, including 7 cryptocurrency wallets associated with the fugitive "Prometheus" and his accomplices from FBI. These wallets are linked to a network operated by individuals from Venezuela's Tren, de, and Aragua ( TDA ), which is suspected of engaging in money laundering through cryptocurrencies and other channels. The Treasury Department stated that ATM fraud has become the main source of income for this organization. According to Treasury data, as of August 2025, the losses incurred by the United States due to suspected jackpotting attacks amounted to $40.73 million, involving over 1,500 incidents. OFAC also separately sanctioned Juan Gabriel Rivas Núñez, a senior leader associated with illegal mining activities.
