According to CoinMeta, the Federal Court of Manhattan in the United States has begun to hear the case regarding an attack worth approximately $53 million involving Uranium Finance. The prosecution alleges that Jonathan Spalletta, a cybersecurity consultant from Maryland, took advantage of a vulnerability in the smart contract of the DEFI protocol in 2021 to steal around $53.3 million from 26 liquidity pools in a second attack, which ultimately led to the closure of Uranium Finance due to insufficient funds. The U.S. Department of Justice previously accused Spalletta of subsequently laundering the funds through methods such as Tornado Cash and purchasing rare collectibles such as Pok é mon, Magic : The Gathering cards, and ancient Roman gold coins. Among these collectibles was also a fragment of the original fabric from the Wright Brothers' airplane that was once taken to the moon by Neil Armstrong.
