Report: Iranian Foreign Minister Privately Proposes "Inspections in Exchange for Lifting Sanctions"
2026-10-02 02:49:58
According to CoinMeta, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif proposed during private talks with European and Middle Eastern diplomats at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that Iran would allow inspectors to re-enter the bombed nuclear facilities in exchange for a relaxation of sanctions. This proposal could provide a breakthrough for the stalled negotiations between the United States and Iran. According to analysts among the diplomats familiar with the situation, Zarif's suggestion indicates the extent of economic suffering Iran has endured. Four sources also stated that Zarif urged European officials to reverse a decision by the United Nations last year to reimpose comprehensive sanctions on Iran, but European officials have so far refused. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also publicly stated last week that Iran is willing to allow inspectors to re-enter the facilities.
