Ostium Rebuilds Transaction System, Launches Gateway to Address $23.75 Million Vulnerability
2026-10-02 07:15:30
CoinMeta Data: On October 1st, Ostium announced that it would rebuild its trading system through Gateway to improve execution speed, unify margin requirements, and enhance infrastructure security. The launch of this new system comes about three months after $23.75 million was stolen from its liquidity wallet, putting pressure on the Arbitrum platform to prove that it had fixed the defects that led to the July vulnerabilities. Ostium stated that this new system is not just a patch; it will also retain the institutional connectivity introduced earlier and improve the execution process and margin management. According to Galaxy Research's data, hackers successfully submitted price reports with subsequent timestamps by accessing two trusted components of the Ostium system, thereby executing a series of transactions. This incident highlights that even when smart contracts are functioning normally, criminals can still target humans, credentials, and infrastructure that are connected to these smart contracts.
