According to CoinMeta, the authors have retracted the Ethereum staking reward burn plan, deciding to handle it separately from the upgrade of Hegota. Jérô me de Tychey, the French chair of Ethereum, announced the withdrawal of the proposal in a post on the Ethereum Magicians forum on Thursday. As the upgrade progresses, multiple stakeholders within the industry, as well as core protocol and client contributors, have stated that the forum for discussing the scope of the fork is not the appropriate place to make policy changes. De Tychey indicated that, considering the importance of this topic and the many concerns it has raised, a separate process should be established for it. The proposal was originally planned to be implemented gradually over 18 months and is expected to reduce net earnings by half, from about 2.6% to 1.2%.
