Arbitrum Security Committee Suspends Contract Activation to Prevent Security Risks
2026-10-03 08:56:51
According to CoinMeta, the security committee of Arbitrum announced that the activation of new Stylus contracts on Arbitrum One and Nova has been suspended to prevent security risks posed by manually generated WASM programs using non-standard toolchains. Officials stated that the known vulnerabilities may mainly lead to decreased network performance or denial of service, but no attacks have occurred yet, and user funds have not been affected. Activated Stylus contracts can still run and be renewed, while the deployment and execution of Solidity and EVM contracts are not affected. The time and method for resuming activation will be determined through discussion with DAO. This action also adds a new protection mechanism for the Bold one-step proof of Arbitrum One. If there are conflicting proofs, settlement to Ethereum may be suspended, and unconfirmed withdrawals may be delayed at that time.
