Arbitrum Suspends activation of new Stylus contracts to address the risk of AI attacks
2026-10-03 20:08:39
According to CoinMeta, on October 3 at 07:30 (UTC +8), the Arbitrum Security Committee temporarily prevented the activation of new Stylus contracts on the Arbitrum One and Nova networks. This restriction applies to programs and application updates that require a complete reactivation. Activated Stylus applications will continue to function as normal, and the deployment and execution of regular Solidity contracts will not be affected. The Arbitrum official stated that this preventive measure was taken due to threats of attacks on WebAssembly programs using non-standard Stylus compiler toolchains. No risk of funds being stolen has been identified so far; the main concerns are related to chain activity and denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
