CoinMeta data: According to Chainalysis, the $387 million theft from Bitget is attributed to North Korean hackers. The company stated that this attack brings the total amount of cryptocurrency stolen by North Korea-related hackers this year to over $1 billion. The North Korean attackers reportedly used cross-chain exchanges to convert the stolen XRP into Bitcoin and kept the tokens outside of the exchanges. This incident is one of several attacks that occurred on April 2nd, and previous attacks have also been linked to North Korea. Chainalysis also noted that the $387 million theft from Bitget raises the total amount stolen in 2026 to over $1 billion.
