According to CoinMeta, Microsoft confirmed that its X account, which has 13 million followers, was hacked. The hackers used this account to promote unauthorized crypto tokens related to Clippy. Microsoft stated that during the incident, the account was replaced with an image of Clippy and briefly followed and reposted content from an account that impersonated Clippy. A Microsoft spokesperson said that the company has confirmed "unauthorized access" and deleted the posts that did not belong to Microsoft, and is investigating the cause of the hack. The attack lasted for about 30 minutes during which the hackers controlled this well-known corporate account.
