According to CoinMeta, a distinguished professor at New York University, compared AI agents to cars with cardboard brakes, stating that they need to be recalled because developers cannot control them reliably. The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is conducting investigations into OpenAI and Anthropic due to the unauthorized access by OpenAI agents to the system of the AI model sharing platform Hugging Face. After six companies signed a voluntary commitment to the White House on September 29th, it was stated that this commitment had made little difference, as these companies were supposed to provide secure products to users anyway. The White House's agreement regarding superintelligence requires companies to maintain internal controls and cooperate with external auditors, but there are no punitive measures, nor is there a requirement to make the audit results public.
