Schwab Strategist Warning: A Single Giant's Capital Expenditure Mistake Could Disturb the AI Market Driver
2026-10-05 12:06:48
According to CoinMeta, strategist Kevin Gordon from Schwab stated that the S&P 500 index is currently just 1% away from its historical high, yet the average stocks have fallen by 14%. He pointed out that AI stocks are supporting the index, so any mistakes in capital expenditure could affect profits. He mentioned that the 14% represents the average decline from peak to trough for S&P 500 constituents since August, not the current loss. Gordon also noted that AI stocks are still performing well despite a weak market, and concerns about valuations as well as public opposition to AI are weakening. In addition, Apollo Global Management's chief economist, Torsten Slok, issued a AI debt warning last month, pointing out that the insurance costs for cloud giants' debt defaults indicate the risks of AI in debt financing expenditures. The third-quarter financial reporting season is about to begin, which will show whether these budgets can be sustained.
