Bloomberg: The performance gap between top AI models from China and the US narrows to 3%, hitting a historic low

According to CoinMeta, Bloomberg Industry Research states that with the progress of Chinese laboratories such as DeepSeek, the performance lead of American companies over Chinese ones has dropped to a historical low. After the release of Flash in September, China's top models lagged behind their American counterparts by only 3% in benchmark tests, a significant improvement from 9% in May and 15% at the beginning of the year. This model ranked sixth globally in LiveBench, with a score of 81.1, close to Anthropic's 83.4. Senior analyst Robert Lea believes that this model already has performance comparable to that of Anthropic and OpenAI, but among the top 15 models, only 3 are from China. The progress of Chinese AI is due to improved professional capabilities and optimization of domestic hardware; however, the industry still faces commercialization pressures. Lea predicts that the industry may not be profitable until 2030.
