According to CoinMeta, OKX and the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, ICE, have jointly launched a project named OKXICE. They have applied for approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and plan to launch a blockchain-based platform for tokenizing U.S. stocks. The platform will offer more than 60 stocks, and users will be able to buy and sell them using stablecoins. Each token will be backed by actual stocks and represent real ownership. These transactions will take place on the blockchain XLayer associated with OKX, which, under new exemption provisions of SEC, allows certain regulated on-chain stock trading venues. Approximately three months after this news was released, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was appointed as co-chairman of OKXICE. According to Bloomberg, ICE invested about $200 million in OKX in March, valuing it at $25 billion.
