CFTC Plans to Introduce New Crypto Market Rules
2026-10-06 02:41:32
According to CoinMeta, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) plans to establish a new set of federal regulations for the supervision of the crypto market after Congress fails to pass comprehensive legislation on the crypto market structure. On Sunday, the CFTC issued a preliminary notice of the proposed rules, inviting the public to comment on two regulatory regimes it plans to introduce: Regulation on Crypto Asset Exchanges (CARE) and Regulation on Crypto Asset Market Oversight (CAMO). CFTC Chair Michael Selliger stated that today's action is an important step towards ensuring that the United States continues to be a hub for global crypto capital. The current focus is on retail transactions involving margin, leverage, or other financing, rather than traditional spot crypto asset transactions.
