According to CoinMeta, Walmart reiterated in an open letter that it will not use artificial intelligence, customer data, or digital shelf tags to set personalized prices. Dan Bartlett, Walmart's Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, stated that Walmart will not utilize customers' personal information, income, shopping history, etc., to set personalized prices and denied the use of dynamic pricing. He also emphasized that digital shelf tags are only used to display price changes more efficiently and do not identify customers or set prices independently. Bartlett also refuted doubts about Walmart's patents, stating that these patents do not imply that the company intends to pursue personalized pricing.
