According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued an "No Action" exemption that allows designated contract markets to convert some existing contracts that essentially already possess the characteristics of perpetual contracts into "true" perpetual contracts with no expiration date. This exemption is valid until October 20th. Before making the conversion, exchanges are required to seek the opinions of holders of open positions, notify them in advance, provide them with an opportunity to exit, and also disclose the associated risks.
