According to CoinMeta, the Norwegian government has announced plans to temporarily ban the use of AI smart glasses in certain public and sensitive areas, mainly due to concerns about privacy, especially the possibility that these devices may record others without their knowledge. The proposal will cover parks, beaches, museums, shopping malls, and public events, and may also include schools, kindergartens, playgrounds, medical institutions, and changing rooms, among others. Torger Mikalsen, the Norwegian Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, stated this. Norway's data protection agency has also called on the government to consider more specific regulations, including restrictions on the locations where the devices can be used and protective measures for biometric identification.
