CFTC Soliciting Public Opinions to Draft New Regulations for the Supervision of the Cryptocurrency Market
2026-10-06 19:00:09
According to CoinMeta, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is proposing new regulations for the supervision of the crypto market and is seeking public feedback. These proposals aim to establish requirements for registered crypto exchanges. CFTC Chair Michael Selliger pointed out in a column for The Wall Street Journal that these rules will not have the same impact as the Clearing House Act. He stated, "Unlike the Clearing House Act, these rules will not require crypto assets to be traded on platforms registered with the CFTC. We do not have the authority to impose such requirements without congressional action." The CFTC also mentioned that they are seeking public input to prevent abuses in the crypto asset market.
