According to CoinMeta, Moment Energy is meeting the growing demand for energy storage by reusing old electric vehicle batteries in new grid-connected energy storage systems. It is estimated that battery storage capacity will increase eightfold over the next decade. The company's founding team met while studying mechatronics at university and jointly participated in the development of electric vehicles. In 2018, after experiencing natural disasters, they recognized a market opportunity and began disassembling Nissan Leaf batteries in garages in British Columbia, repackaging them to provide backup power. Today, Moment Energy has collaborated with several technology companies to help manage power supply and offer solutions for customers to cope with potential power outages. The company also plans to establish new factories in the United States and Canada to classify its reused batteries as domestic products.
